Aquatic Park Rocks!
I am often swimming in the Bay at Aquatic Park and I often park on Jefferson Street near the Dolphin Club, or up Hyde Street into the Russian Hill neighborhood. The other morning, I parked at the end of Van Ness in one of those great 4 hour parking spots--which would give me plenty of time to swim, relax and enjoy my weekend morning. I have noticed Rock Sculptures along the part of the cove closest to Van Ness (the rocky part to the left of the beach as you face the Bay), but never witnessed the artists at work. On Saturday morning, a man was plugged into his MP3, with the world tuned out, balancing and stacking rocks on their edges! It was fantastic. Great to see the artist at work and his balancing was incredible.

He created a row of diagonally balanced rocks. I was wishing I had my camera and not just my iPhome.

On Sunday, after my swim, I noticed another artist at work. His sculptures stack many rocks on top of each other (reminds me of a game we used to play as kids, called Blockhead, where one stacked blocks and when they fell over, we yelled "Blockhead!"
Here is a photo of the second artist at work.

This makes me wonder: How many rock artists are there in SF? How many different styles are there?
Check out the Rock Art at Aquatic Park--gallery open at low tide.
