Good ____________ (food, wine, cause, friends, fun)
Last night I attended a food and wine pairing, to benefit the Friends of San Francisco Independent Living Skills Program, hosted by a good friend (and attended by old friends and new friends). It was great fun!
Gwendolyn Wilson, the manager of wine.com's retail store (4th Ave in Berkeley), is an incredibly knowledgable wine enthusiast. She is really passionate about wine, and shares that energy and enthusiasm. She served a sparkling Chardonnay, a Viogner, and two red wines (I don't have my notes with me...all were good). She selected these wines through a program they have 'over 90 for under $20'. They were delicions wines, and incredibly good value (all of the wines we tasted were in the $10-13 range).
The Park Avenue Bar and Grille in Oakland presented the food--Sald, chicken pot stickers, amazing portobello mushroom raviolis and lamb shanks. We finished the meal with desert wine, port and birthday cake for Kathryn.
My friend Charlotte procured this great event at a silent auction to benefit the Friends of SF Independent Living Skills. an organization that supports young adults who age out of San Francisco's foster care program. The aid can be grants to help them buy books for school, or help with tuition or rent.
My thanks to Charlotte for inviting me, to Gwendolyn for bringing great wines and sharing her passion and to the owner of the Park Avenue Bar and Grille for a great dinner. All to benefit an organization that helps helps young adults as they transition to adulthood.
