Seward Street Slides

I was speaking with someone recently who was talking about the Seward Street Slides in Noe Valley.  These Slides are two long concrete slides.  Who knew there were big concrete slides in Noe Valley!  I did a search and found some fabulous videos on YouTube.  The link to my favorite, entitled Wee!, is here.

The slide was installed in the Seward Street mini-park over 35 years ago after neighbors successfully changed the zoning of a parcel of land to keep some green space in their neighborhood.  Some local kids got involved in the design of the park, and the slides are the vision of a girl who lived down the street and won the "Design the Park" competition. For best results, I understand that a piece of cardboard and some waxed paper make for a quick, fun ride.
